There are few times in life when you hear about a place, a thing, or a site that you must visit for yourself. Forget about living vicariously through your niece or nephew……you have to do it yourself!
That’s the case with Cambridge, MA.
Cambridge is famously known for its quirkiness, laid back style, Harvard, and it’s direct connection to the Revolutionary War. (Remember the movie “Glory” and the 54th Infantry Regiment?)
Well, about a month ago, Premium Pete, the man that dreamed about and created SneakerTube, told me that he was going to be heading to Massachusetts for a family gathering. I immediately knew we were going to get together and have some food and drinks. But, I was very specific because I wanted to make sure that while his time was limited in Boston, he had to experience Cambridge.
We hit Harvard Square and I told Pete about all the great movies that were filmed at Harvard University and MIT; I told him about the all Black 54th Regiment that contributed to forming the Nation when Blacks were considered the “inferior” race, and, of course, I told him about a little sneaker store called Concepts that got it’s start within another store, long before the present day store, located at 37 Brattle Street.
Pete needed to experience all of these places firsthand!
He also had to experience The Border Café, which is a well known Mexican restaurant, that I’ve been eating at for over 15-years.
The sites and sounds of Cambridge can be intoxicating, minus the hangover and the chain-smoking monkey.
So, if you ever make your way to Massachusetts, do yourself a favor and be sure to make your way across the Charles River to Cambridge. You’ll appreciate the people, the sounds and everything about this historical town.
